And here we go...
The pre-post from Chats and Banters wet everybody's seat for the annual TMTB 8DOCR series.
Below is what I gleaned from the chatter. I've tried to accommodate the input from folks that have stated their desires and schedules. I expect some juggling to be done at first then we'll lock it in.
Please sound off if you are interested in leading or adding a ride. I made a first pass suggestion on some of them, let me know if you can't lead the ride. If you can, post your ride details and I'll update the schedule.
Edit #3
Sat 26th: Girls Ride, Starr Pass 9am (Kimmeh-Cat)
Sat26th: SDMB Last Sat Ride AZT 9am (Jon)
Sat 26th: Tour de Lush kickoff, Evan's house 6:30pm (Evan)
Sun 27th: AZ Trail @ Pistol Hill TH 9:30 (Steve)
Mon 28th: Reddington AZT/ATV Trail 9am (Abe)
Tue 29th: Bugs/Millie, LeBuzz at 10am (Brian)
Wed 30th: Tucson Mtn Park / Brown Mtn, K21 Kinney 10am (Jobie)
Wed 30th: Sweetwater Full Moon no-lights 7:30pm (Vern)
Wed 30th: Bianchi's after the ride, raffle will be before the ride
Thur 31st: Robles from 4ft culvert 10am (Tim)
Fri 1st: Fantasy Island hangover spin Noon (Slowleak-Jim)
Sat 2nd: 50Yr BabyJesus loop Lago del Oro TH 9am, finale party with a special commemorative BabyJesus Ale (Hank)
I didn't list KY camp, that seems to get cut every year due to coldness and distance.
There was some talk about doing some out of town rides, BCT and/or a South Mtn run. We could always do a run on a day before Christmas, or add as a parallel ride for folks that can invest the travel time.

Now for some fun stuff.
The SingleTrack Store has offered up one Magicshine Light set for the TMTB 8ish Days of Christmas rides.
Check out a couple product reviews from your fellow TMTB'ers here:
http://www.tucsonmtb.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2652
Reade is the US distributor of these lights and lives here in Tucson.
See product details and supplier information here:

Here's the fun part. TMTB is going to raffle this light off for the 8ish Days of Christmas on the Wednesday night ride!!
Raffle Details:
- The winner will be chosen before the Wed night ride at the Sweetwater trail head Dec 30th.
- You do not have to be present to win, but hopefully everyone is at the ride anyway.
- The proceeds will go towards buying the pizza and a round of drinks at Bianchi's after the ride. Must be present to enjoy the pizza and drinks.
- Tickets are 2 for $5.
- You can PM me or post here for how many tickets you want. But you won't have an actual ticket until you pay me. I'll have some tickets with me next week and leading up to Wed night. PM me for arrangements if you won't be able to make the rides.
Good luck! |

So Baby J is on the ticket eagh. Be sure to visit the "Bed Rock Freeride Area" for some rock slab action and nice views.
BedRock is just to the west of where the CP 1 Track intersects with the Baby J trail. A couple of acres of some slickrockish sillyness for all levels. Something akin to the Cheezy Pleezers area but far slabbier.
It and the upper part of the Baby J descent looks like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaAD5rJcFTw
And through an XC lense like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRNhOv425t4&feature=related
I'll be home over the holidays and hope to partake in some of the merry mayhem.

Looks to be a sweet schedule lads and ladies!
For the Jan 2 ride, to avoid the possible imperial entanglements at the top of golder (parking area), we'll move the festivities over to my place, where the brew will be nice and cold. I'll have some chips and stuff - if folks want to add to the munchie offerings, we'll make it a partay.
An option (which I would kinda recommend - but ask for feedback...)...
The traditional route would be to go from the parking area, stroll out to do the Chutes, then back up to catch Middle Gate, taking Deer Camp spur to the BJ Connect (I like Louis' "playground" recommendation!), then ride down BJ and back to the parking lot.
With the rain we're expecting, the sand should be certainly more packed than it is now, which makes the following a nice little tease:
Start from "Lago del Norte" (1.8 miles north of intersection at Golder and Lago Del Oro). This would take us directly to the top of the Chutes (a little warm up climb - but pays off later). Hit Middle Gate first, doing the crossover to BJ, etc., then - instead of the stroll back to the car, we stroll back to the top of the Chutes - then blast down the Chutes - downhill all the way back to the cars except for a very short climb - not the long one - out of the bottom of the chutes. Those wanting a little more can take a 20-minute loop and do Gem, returning back to the same place (top of the Chutes), which means the downhill is basically from the turn-off to Gem, all the way back to the cars (with only a few short uphills)
Another option - instead of "strolling" back to the chutes, we return from BJ, and just cross right over the wash and then do Middle Gate the opposite direction (Which would basically make an out-n-back on MG, + BJ - yes, a climb in the beginning, but *well* *well* *well* worth the fun techy ride down - and this would extend the downhill fun to basically be a downhill all the way from the Middle Gate look-out point all he way back to the cars (except for a couple very little uphills - seriously, very little). If you haven't done the last option (or even the Gem option) - having the Chutes downhill be the *end* of your ride, you owe it to try it. It's a blast! |

As I sit in the Amsterdam airport on a four hour layover, the thought of 8 days of riding sounds freaking awesome......
I will see you guys at the Tour de Lush. Vern, we reserved the bikes. If you could have them tuned up and ready to go, that would be great.... |

Put me down for the Tue Wed. and thursday rides. Other rides are gonna be a big maybe. It's impossible for me to take days off around the holidays. Schedule's looking good though. |
