One big problem is that most people have the attitude that streets are for cars. Streets are for PEOPLE. Cars are just one of many means to get from one place to another. Just because they are the dominant species doesn't mean the rest of us have to roll over. Why is it that some cities like Portland and Seattle, that have way more crowded streets and lousy weather are way ahead of Tucson in this?

Portland is def better than Seattle for bike friendliness, and it's my hunch Tucson is bette

Ride the Blinkie Trail @ 24 Hour Course 3/13/10

Bert and I are heading up to the 24 Hour Course to meet up with Cutler and ride some of the more obscure trail up there. Looks like we'll be riding the Blinkie Trail, which heads up to the radar tower. According to Bert, it should be a 4-5 hour ride. Since I'm riding as well, it will be a relaxed pace.

Meet at my house (1723 E Linden St., just N of UMC) at 8:30 AM, Trader Joe's at Oracle & Magee at 9:00 AM, or at the 24 Hour Course (main parking area) at 10:00. FIP around 10:15. Let

Cafe latex

I have abandoned the Caffe' Latex. It just would not seal punctures as well as Stan's. Initial inflation and seal is way more impressive than Stan's, but the puncture sealing is the most important thing, and it failed for me and my mtb anyway. I might use it in a roadie though.

I put Bontrager rimstrips on my Laserdiscs, and they fit perfectly. I now have the best tubeless results to date with the bonty strips and Stan's sealant. The Bonty strips were only 1/4 the cost of what Stan gets for h

Power of the bike bell

I ride with bells on all my bikes. Not so I can chime in at upcoming traffic (although that's a good secondary reason), but mostly cuz I'm uber afraid of crashing, falling off the trail and having noone find me or hear me screaming.

A bell, with it's higher pitched sound, will travel farther and be heard more readily by people than someone yelling...especially someone who might not even be able to yell cuz of broken ribs, exteme pain or simple direction they are facing. :-)
